Current Dancers
Lorena Jaramillo (dancer) was born and raised in Mexico City where she began her studies in classical and contemporary dance. In 2015 she relocated to New York City to study at Marymount Manhattan College where she earned a BA in Dance with a concentration in Dance Studies and a Minor in Arts for Communities. In the past she has worked with JUNTOS Collective, Semillas Collective and CoopDanza, non-profit organizations through which she has been able to connect with Latinx communities though dance performance and teaching. In addition to NK&D, Lorena currently dances with Sydnie L Mosely Dances and Variety Pack Collective.
Caitlin Knowles (dancer) is a performer and educator based in the NYC/NJ area. They graduated from Montclair State University with a BFA in Dance and Theater and continue their training by taking classes regularly at Gibney, Peridance and Steps on Broadway in NYC. They have committed to growing as an educator and choreographer by participating in programs such as the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Summer Teacher Training, AXIS Summer Intensive, BergenDanceMakers and becoming ABT certified in levels Pre-Primary- Level 3. Caitlin is so grateful to have been able to perform works by José Limòn, Bill T. Jones, Nancy Lushington, Doug Varone, Marked Dance Project, Meghan Daly, David Ingram, Mei Yamanaka and Stephanie Beauchamp among others. They have also had the opportunity to perform in venues such as The Joyce Theater, Gibney, Hackensack Performing Arts Center, The Actors Fund Arts Center, Ramapo College, and Oskar Shindler Performing Arts Center and have their own choreography shown at festivals/events such as The Craft, Manifest, NJ Mental Health Association webinar, Dance Parade, DanceRising, and Anytime Anyplace Online Dance Film Festival. They are happy to currently be dancing with Nicole Kadar and Dancers along with Susie McHugh and Dancers and Nikki Manx Dance Projects as well as continue to freelance and collaborate with companies to create accessible and socially conscious spaces.
Kathryn McKenzie (dancer) grew up in Newburgh, NY and has been dancing since before she can remember. She attended Marymount Manhattan College as a dance major after graduating from high school and transferred to Hunter College in fall 2015. As a member of the Hunter College Dance Company, Kathryn performed choreographies by Merce Cunningham, Doug Varone, and Vicky Shick along with numerous student works. Kathryn also discovered a passion for choreographing and lighting design while there, choreographing for 3 Hunter College Dance Department Showcases and designing lights for 3 evening length shows. This past July, she graduated cum-laude from Hunter with a B.A. in Dance. Outside of Hunter, Kathryn has been a part of the pre-production cast of "Really Rosie" for New York City Center's Summer Encores series and choreographed a music video for the band The Next Great American Novelist. When she's not dancing, Kathryn can be found in the air working and training at a partner acrobatics studio in Queens or rock climbing.
Glenna Yu (dancer, assistant rehearsal director) is a movement artist splitting time between Brooklyn and Andes, NY. She has worked on several interdisciplinary collaborations, including an immersive performance with experimental pop musician gocco; a devised dance theatre piece called SCUM that uses burlesque and vaudeville to explore feminism, gender and performativity; and a light/costume show with visual artist Louisa Willis. In addition to NK&D / a movement company, Glenna dances with H.T. Chen & Dancers and has worked with choreographers Yehuda Hyman/Mystical Feet Company, Isaac Iskra, Raven White, Rebecca Lazier, and Stefano Nappi.
Recent-Past Dancers
Coriselle Martinez (dancer) hails from Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, where she began her training at Mauro Youth Ballet Company. She continued her dance studies at School for the Performing Arts and the Ailey School, where she completed her certificate in the Independent Study Program. Coriselle is actively pursuing her BFA in Dance at the Ailey/Fordham Program, with a minor in Theater concentration in Stage management. Coriselle has traveled to places like Guatemala, Orlando, New York, and Puerto Rico helping others to connect to dance as a source of joy. She has given Horton and modern dance workshops, and driven communities to connect to dance. Her high energy and leadership is taking her places, where dance is a community that shares love and support.
Caitlin Potosnak (dancer, former assistant rehearsal director) graduated from Radford University with a B.F.A. in Dance and with a minor in Exercise Science. At Radford she was an apprentice dancer with d a n a h b e l l a danceworks and worked with many choreographers including Keith Lee and Christopher K. Morgan. Caitlin’s choreography has been recognized at the Virginia/North Carolina Regional Choreography Competition held by the National Society of Arts and Letters Organization and went on to compete nationally in Birmingham, AL. While in West Virginia she was a member of the West Virginia Dance Company for two years. In addition to dancing professionally in WV, she received a professional development grant from the West Virginia division of Culture and History: National Endowment for the Arts, in which she was able to further her studies in dance with companies such as Doug Varone and Dancers, Limon Dance Company, Amy Marshall Dance Company, and the Radio City Rockettes. She has had the privilege of performing with the Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company during their 25th Anniversary Celebration. Upon relocating to NYC she’s performed for DoubleTake dance company, Bob Boross, Shift Create Dance, Shelly Hutchinson, Ariel Rivka Dance, and Dance Cat-Alyst. Caitlin is a certified pilates instructor and teaches in Manhattan.
Yao Xu moved from China to New York City three years ago. Previously, She received her BA and MA in Contemporary Dance from Beijing Normal University. She is now working on obtaining her second master’s degree in Dance EducaGon from Hunter College’s Arnhold Graduate Dance EducaGon Program. Since moved to NYC, Yao Xu has performed in Lincoln Center EducaGon Keynan Fellows’s dance Skin Deep and Pedro Ruiz’s Mee*ng Along the Edges. Yao Xu’s choreography works have also been featured in numbers of events and projects, including the New York State Dance EducaGon AssociaGon Conference in 2017 and Ballet. Inc’s The Series Vol.II at Queens Theatre. She is now earning her doctorate at Temple University.
